SUPPORT YOUR TEEN THROUGH THIS DARK TIME
How to help your teen
Binge eating disorder can be difficult for parents to recognize because it often happens in private and isn’t always linked to obvious physical changes. A teen may feel a loss of control around food and experience guilt or shame afterward, which can make them less likely to open up. Parents can help by creating a supportive, non-judgmental environment where their teen feels safe talking about their emotions, not just their eating habits. It’s important to focus on overall well-being rather than weight, and to avoid criticism, strict food rules, or dismissing their feelings, as this can make the struggle worse.
